Understanding Medicare
Medicare is a federal health insurance program available to people who are 65 or older, certain individuals under 65 with disabilities, and those diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). It’s made up of different parts that cover hospital care, doctor visits, and other health needs. We’ll help you understand how it all works and what coverage makes the most sense for your situation.
Medicare Supplements (Medigap)
Medicare Supplement Insurance—commonly called Medigap—is designed to help cover the out-of-pocket costs that Original Medicare doesn’t pay for, like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. These plans are offered by private companies and work alongside your Medicare coverage to give you more financial predictability. We’ll help you compare plans and choose the one that’s the right fit for your needs.
Medicare Advantage Plans
Medicare Advantage Plans (also known as Part C) are an alternative to Original Medicare. These plans bundle Part A and Part B coverage and are offered by Medicare-approved private insurance companies. Many include prescription drug coverage, and some offer extra benefits like dental, vision, or fitness programs. Most plans require you to use a network of providers and have an annual limit on out-of-pocket costs. We’ll help you explore whether a Medicare Advantage plan is the best choice for your care and budget.
Veteran Specific Medicare Plans
If you’re a veteran exploring Medicare Advantage plans, you might wonder, “Will this cost me more?”
The good news is—many plans come at no additional cost and can work alongside your VA benefits.
Medicare Advantage plans tailored for veterans often offer extra coverage, enhanced benefits, and greater flexibility, all while helping protect you from unexpected medical expenses.
We’ll help you explore your options and see if a veteran-focused plan is the right fit for your needs.

Prescription Drug Plans
Medicare Part D helps cover the cost of prescription medications and is available to anyone enrolled in Medicare. Even if you’re not currently taking medications, enrolling in drug coverage can help protect you from high costs in the future.

To get coverage, you must enroll in a Medicare-approved plan that offers Part D benefits. Plans vary in price and which prescriptions are covered, so we’ll help you compare options and find one that fits your needs and budget.
Individual Insurance Plans
If you’re under 65 and not on Medicare, you may still need health coverage for yourself or your family. Individual health insurance plans—like those available through the Connect for Health Colorado Marketplace—can help cover doctor visits, prescriptions, and unexpected medical costs.

We’re here to walk you through your options, explain how subsidies work, and help you find the right plan for your needs and budget. Whether you're self-employed, aging off a parent’s plan, or recently lost employer coverage, we can help you get covered.
